and, addition to your blog about teachers and the call of some for the insular: classroom teachers feel besieged (almost literally) these days, and it's hard to blame them. Remember the Alaamo! -- and it may tur out to happen!

As for your second comment, I understand how teachers can feel besieged. But it seems to me that'd create a desire to create allies and foster cooperation when folks want to work together rather than in opposition.
